Theatre Tulsa
Vocal Auditions (10am-12pm): Please prepare 32 bars of both an up-tempo song and a ballad. You will be asked to sing only one song initially. However, please be prepared to sing both. An accompanist will be provided for you, please provide sheet music with cuts clearly marked. No A Capella singing, please. Note on Vocals: If you're auditioning for a high tenor role (Jesus/Judas/Annas/Peter) please prepare a song to display high range/rock and roll falsetto. Dance Auditions (12pm-2pm): A dance call will immediately follow the vocal auditions. Please bring appropriate clothing and footwear for movement. The dance in this show will be high-energy and modern. Please be ready to move and keep an open mind. Director: Vern Stefanic Music Director: Catherine Ratliff Choreographer: Jen Alden Stage Manager: Heather Davidson Asst. Director: Hunter Cates Performance Dates: May 12-14, 18-21 Rehearsals: Rehearsals will begin in mid-March. Theatre Tulsa typical rehearses Monday-Thursday evening and occasional Saturdays. About the Show: Jesus Christ Superstar tells the story of biblical Jesus in the final days leading up to his crucifixion. Loosely based on the Gospels, Superstar focuses on the personal conflicts between Jesus, his disciples, the people of Israel, and the leadership of Rome. The musical is unique among biblical retellings in that it focuses on both Judas' struggle making the decision to betray Jesus and Jesus' human psychology, fear, and anger in understanding and accepting his role as both leader and martyr.
