Sept. 22-23, 29-30 at 8 p.m.; Oct. 1 at 2 p.m. John H. Williams Theatre PRESENTED BY: Theatre Tulsa Next Stage Fed-up suburban youths struggle to find their place in a superficial society in this 2010 Broadway rock opera. Based on the Grammy Award-winning album by the punk-rock band Green Day, this sung-through stage adaptation includes all the songs on the album, including "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" and "Wake Me Up When September Ends," as well as "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)" from their album Nimrod. The story centers on three disaffected young men. Johnny and Tunny move to the city to flee a stifling suburban lifestyle and parental restrictions, while Will stays home to work on a relationship with his pregnant girlfriend. "American Idiot" was nominated for the Best Musical Tony Award and won Tonys for Best Scenic Design and Best Lighting Design of a Musical.
