Help Tulsa Stained Glass celebrate the artists who participated in the 2016 Art Smart Challenge. Plus enjoy free painting projects, refreshments and lots more! This year s Grand Prize winner is Alyssa Foster of Tulsa, Oklahoma, with her creation, Mommy and Me. According to Alyssa, her mother Cynthia is the most important person in my life. ......my best friend.....I love her so much. A freshman at TCC pursuing an Associate s Degree in Applied Science, Alyssa s ultimate goal is a career as a Physical Therapist. As this year s winner, she will receive a cash prize and a stained glass panel replicated from her winning artwork. Artists from all across America submitted entries during the year-long entry period. The awards ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, March 26th, at 3 p.m. at River Parks. All of the 2016 winners are listed online, and their art will be on display at the Art Smart Challenge s outdoor sculpture, located near the Blue Rose Cafe at River Parks. The Art Smart Challenge has been an annual event for over twenty years of the store s 40-year history in Tulsa, and has grown in size and scope into a prestigious national contest. Open to kids, adults and seniors, the Art Smart Challenge is the only national competition promoting both finger painting for beginners and stained glass design. The contest was created to inspire the artist in all people, improve design knowledge and skills, and move people to actually draw a picture. Contestants create their designs based on what is most important to them in life, whether it be a person, activity, event or idea. With the beginning of the new year, the new 2017 contest is already underway. Artists can submit their entries through December 31st, 2017. Over $2,500 in prizes are awarded each year. The Grand Prize winner also has his or her design converted to a stained glass window by TSG students. Set in a futuristic dystopia this production examines the dangers of underestimating the unlikely ruler, the grotesque, the power-hungry Richard. Since he will stop at nothing, those who dismiss him do so at their peril. As his grip on power tightens, England must stop at nothing to end Richard. Directed by Norah Sweeney. Performance June 2-3. Rehearsal schedule TBD. We are seeking 15 ACTRESSES (Female Actors) for this production, ranging in age from 13-60s. This show will be an all-female cast, but please do not think you must come to auditions in a codpiece or fake mustache. Shakespeare s plays were originally performed by all-male casts, but the actors playing Juliet or Portia played the best female characters they could. We are doing the same, in reverse. Focus on the character and the story. This is a play about power. Bring your most powerful performing self, and don t worry about the register your voice. There are female characters in this play, too. Auditions will consist of cold readings from pre-selected sides. If you have a Shakespearean monologue prepared by all means bring it, but it is not required. Almost all performers will play more than one role.
